VM is a mail reader that runs inside GNU Emacs and XEmacs. It was written as an alternative to the Emacs RMAIL mail reader. VM is highly configurable and easy to use. It supports POP and IMAP for mail retrieval, understands MIME, and reads both the standard UNIX mailbox format and the BABYL format used by the RMAIL mailer.
VM has been written by Kyle Jones. The last version released by Kyle was 7.19.
This site exists to continue VM development after version 7.19 as a community project. Kyle has handed over VM to Robert Widhopf-Fenk.
The actual VM project is hosted at https://launchpad.net/vm and maintained by the VM development team consisting of Robert Widhopf-Fenk, Ulrich Müller and Uday Reddy.
If you want to participate, please join on Launchpad.
Releases are available from the Launchpad project page or from the Savannah download area.
Kind of a roadmap is in the TODO file which can be browsed at launchpad, but it eventually will be removed in favor of the bug tracker of launchpad.
