Hopify Homepage
Hopify is a perlscript and some info files that can teach you how to
read faster.
There is a description on how it all
works, and some examples (Post Script or PDF).
You can download it here. It's GPL.
Another practicing tool for on-screen practicing is the modified
WordFlashReader. You can change chunk size while you are
reading. (Original page is here, but I
have not heard from the maintainer.).
If you have any feedback, or Ideas on how to improve it, let me know.
Plans:
- It would be great to have some GTK application that would flash
the snippets on the screen, at specifiably frequency. Then ask
questions about the content so your comprehension has to go up to get
a higher score.
- Merge in my old web interface, trough some kind of intermediate
file or API. So it will have new and improved chunking. It should
provide ps, dvi, pdf, plain text and html output, whatever you choose.
- Make a (real, printed) Book, with a bunch of Gutenberg stories and
the info file. Maybe 300 pages or so.
- Improve chunking so that it minimizes standard deviation within
the Paragraph, leading to smoother chunking -- better learning.
- Include User Feedback in the info documentation. Every brain works
different, but some are similar. So feedback will help us Identify
one way for all the learner types.
This project happily lives on the Savannah.
